A downloadable game for Windows

In this 2D platformer puzzler, jump around in zero gravity to save your space ship from certain destruction.

1. Upon entering a new room the player explores the room, finds the clues/parts to solve the puzzle, and brings all that information to solve the room’s puzzle.

2. The Player launches himself off of the ground directionally (similar to how would shoot an array in a 2D game). Rotates himself to avoid obstacles and position himself to grab objects. Then rotates to land on his feet to launch himself again.

3. The player has a map of levels labeled as different rooms in the space ship. He solves a room, which unlocks other rooms on the map until the entire space ship’s maps are completed.

This prototype was made in unity and is representative of the second gameplay loop.  You can click the mouse to launch the player character in the opposite direction. The distance between the mouse and the player character determines the power of the launch. Rotate the player character with the 'a' and 'd' keys, so you can land on your feet. Press the 'r' key to reset your position to where you last jumped. The goal is to get to the door at the end of the level. Have fun!

Reflect on your concept demo by answering the following questions:

  • Is it representative of the core loop you wanted?

Yes it was very representative of the core loop.

  • Did it give you an answer to the question you posed, and if so, what is the answer?

The answer was yes this game play loop can be fun!

  • How would you change it, if at all?

I would not change it because I feel that my prototype was a success.

  • Where would you take the idea next?

I would develop a new mechanic or obstacle for the player to interact with in the next levels. Like a gravity level where the player is no longer in zero gravity so their jumps are arcs instead of straight lines. Then create levels that use this new mechanic in tandem with the ones I have already created.
